The majority of log packages we supply are custom designed.
This is easy to understand when you consider the nature of a log home and the
personality of the log home owner.
Most log home owners seek relief from the ordinary run of the mill in their life so
they seek homes as unique as the places
they are to be built.
That does not change when it comes to design. Imagine taking the best ideas you
have seen and turning them into your dream house. In a world of millions you have
one.
We look forward to new designs and enjoy the fact that we rarely do the same house
twice.
This is what we do best. Given sketches, pictures and dimensions,
our designer can help you achieve this dream and not for an
outrageous price that is based on percentages.
The going rate for custom designed plans is $3.10 per square foot.
For this price you receive floor-plans, site-plans, elevations,
mechanical, details and even 3-D renderings to help visualize
your future home.
How much more does it cost to purchase a custom log package?
Zero.
We base our price not on uniqueness of design or the amount of
corners but on the total amount of logs needed. Because people
are used to paying for unique and one of a kind items, many
companies feel obligated to charge more. Not so at Earthlog
Log Homes & Timber Structures.

With our custom designed notching equipment we can achieve
100% bearing surfaces at member connections.
For accuracy and tight fit our uniquely designed
machinery cannot be matched and you will not find
trusses with tighter notches. Period.
Connections on traditional log trusses, are generally
excessively hollowed by chainsaw and chipper guns
resulting in eventual settling...the last thing you want
in a roof system.
We offer full round log truss and timber trusses with
internal or external hardware.
We can supply Douglas Fir, Englemann Spruce or
Lodgepole Pine with a smooth or handhewn finish.
Our equipment can manufacture trusses 7" to 24" in
diameter and spans up to 60' are possible.
Need accent logs ?
Log and Timber Truss Works can serve your log
needs in a timely and efficient manner - helping you
serve your customers in the same way.
If size allows, we will ship the trusses fully assembled
and ready to set.
You can well imagine the savings in having prefabricated log
work delivered to your site.
If size does not allow for shipment of large log trusses and
trusses; we can ship truss members, prepared with engineered
connection systems, for ease of assembly at your building site.
In addition to trusses we can supply logs or timbers for a complete roof
system. Our machinery can produce logs up to 60" in diameter!
Up to 32' in length!LOG TRUSS WORKS Engineering has developed a
superior fabrication system to ensure trusses and roof systems meet
local regulatory design requirements as well as customer design
requirements and satisfaction.

There are many variables when building a home and even more so with a log home.
Even with all the different options there are some average numbers that work well
when trying to determine what you can afford. Below are some numbers that should
help:
The Log Home Package
The log portion of your project will end up being 1/3 - 1/4 of your finished cost.
That is to say if you spend $30,000 on your logs it will typically mean you have a
home in the $75,000 to $120,000 range. It would be closer to 1/2 - 1/3 for a cabin.
Log packages from Earthlog Log Homes & Timber Structures average between $35 -
$50 per sq ft depending on log size and design.
A Log Package Dried-In
Depending on location, to have your log home "dried-in" will cost approximately $65
to $100 per sq ft.
This would include your log package, having it stacked and the windows, doors,
exterior framing and roof finished.
This number can really fluctuate depending on where you are building, and the
quality of materials used. .
The dried-in cost is affected by factors such as building site location,
how much you do yourself, time of year, your individual taste and your
proximity to contractors.
The log package price is not usually affected by these things.
It should be mentioned that these prices are for a milled log home and the prices for
handcrafted homes can differ significantly.
We do offer a draw-knife finish on our logs for those wanting a more rustic look at a
milled log price.
Terms:
The total price includes all logs profiled according to the Customer's final plans.
Customer agrees it is his/her responsibility to ascertain the accuracy of the final
plans when they are prepared by an independent designer/draftsman on customer's
behalf and releases Earthlog Log Homes & Timber Structures, Inc. from any
liability therefrom.
Logs will be numbered and wrapped in marked bundles. Any defective logs or
missing logs will be replaced at no charge by Earthlog. Earthlog reserves the right
to determine log length/butt-joint locations (when necessary).
Earthlog upon request from customer will make arrangements with carrier
(trucking company) for the delivery of customer's log package.
Pricing and resulting sales of all products are FOB (Freight on Board); from yard;
from our supply mill in Montana.
Customer acknowledges that the handling and shipping of the product is the
responsibility of the trucking company and releases Earthlog from any liability,
including but not limited to, the securing of the product on the truck and the timely
delivery of the same.
The trucking company is responsible for the proper loading of the product and for
obtaining the proper permits pursuant to the guidelines and regulations of the
Department of Transportation.
Customer releases Earthlog from any liability for any inconvenience including
downtime, inclement weather, delayed trucking, etc.
Earthlog provides the customer with a cut/stack sheet as a courtesy to assist the
builder in the placement of the logs. It is not intended nor should it be used to
replace the final plans.
Payment terms are 80% to procure the logs and to start processing them.
A cashiers check is due for the final payment at the time of delivery and acceptance
of the shipment (see below).
DUE TO FLUCTUATING TIMBER PRICES, ANY PENDING AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE THE CUSTOMER AND EARTHLOG LOG HOMES & TIMBER STRUCTURES,
INC. IS VALID FOR SIXTY (60) DAYS. THE QUOTED PRICE BECOMES LOCKED-
IN UPON RECEIPT OF THE SIGNED AGREEMENT AND THE INITIAL PAYMENT
FROM THE CONTRACT DATE.
Custom Log Homes and Log Cabins
Earthlog Timber Structures supplies precut notched logs for log homes and log cabins.
Since 1989 this family run log/home/log cabin manufacturer has created quality
custom log and timber structures, log trusses and log accents for architects, builders
and home owners.
To accomplish this goal we developed quality precision machinery capable of close
tolerances.
Our uniquely designed mill can produce lathe turned logs up to 32' in length and 32"
in diameter while maintaining a 1/16" tolerance!
The payoff is a vastly superior log and a quality over quantity mentality.
In addition to an advanced product we also made the promise to keep the relationship
with our customers on a personal level and treat all projects with the care they
deserve, regardless of size.
It is this attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction that has given
us the reputation as the best in our business.
Our emphasis is on high quality precision milled log homes, log cabins, heavy log
trusses and custom log home accents with meticulous attention to detail and
customer satisfaction. Handhewn finish is an option.
Each log home or log cabin kit features a minimum amount of buttjoints, is
predrilled for electrical chases and thru-bolts, and has zero tolerance notching.
Custom is always included at no extra charge at Earthlog Timber Structures.
Our Homes & Commercial Structures are available Nationwide & Canada.
Sunken Living Rooms Bedrooms, Indoor Swimming Pools, a Front like a Castle,
or you can even Incorporate a Green House in your overall design.
Larger Homes can have a rear or Side Entrance that can be Designed just as
Elaborate as the Front Entrance or Comfortable the way you want it to be.
A Side or Back Entrance can have a log home look with screened in or Open Porch.
What is included in a log home package ?
We are a mill direct source for the logs.
We concentrate on logs.
The package can include all the exterior wall logs, interior wall logs, log loft floor
joists, roof purlins and purlin supports.
We can supply just exterior wall logs if you want.
The logs will be turned, coped, notched and predrilled for the thru-bolt hardware.
Additionally, we can drill a 1" electrical chase vertically in the log if designated in
advance.
We can also supply deck posts and beams and any other logs needed that are 7" in
diameter or larger.
We can also supply thru-bolt hardware to stack the log package and the foam to use
between the logs if desired. We can supply log railing if you wish.
Do you stack the logs ? No.
However, in certain areas we know people that will and we have dealers that will
stack homes within a certain distance of their locations.

you or your contractor if desired.
How much is shipping ?
Structures under 1500 square feet can usually fit on one truck and two trucks are
typically needed for homes up to 3200 square feet.
The rate per mile varies with destination and fuel prices from Montana to your
destination. Usually around $ 5.00 per mile one way.
Can I get plans ?
We can have preliminary and/or full construction plans drawn for a very reasonable
rate. $ 3.25 per square foot. Our designer is capable of supplying you with 3-D
drawings and realistic views of your home that are an invaluable tool in making
your decisions.
How much lead time is needed ? We are typically booked solid two to three months in
advance but during the spring and summer it can be even longer. Frequently we have
room between the larger projects or we get a delivery delay so we can fit it in but to
be safe give us a call.
